Day 01.- Iquitos in – Nauta – Anaconda Lake – Nocturnal Excursion
Landscape at sunsetWe pick you up from your hotel or airport and transfer to the city of Nauta through a paved road in a private car. Along the way, we will see small local villages consisting of farmers nearby the hard road. The trip will last for approximately one hour and forty five minutes. During the trip, we will visit the old city of Nauta and walk the streets where we can see the rustic houses built with mud, which are the oldest houses in the city. Once here, we will take the boat down the Marañon River to the Lodge located near the lagoon. When we arrive, we will be received with a welcome drink made of natural fresh typical fruits of the jungle, and immediately your private room will be assigned and we will provide Flower in Pacaya Samiriayou with information of the program. Afterwards, with the company of our specialized guide, we will take a canoe ride to the “Anaconda Cocha” lake. Next, we will have a lunch of typical jungle food, and go for a walk in the primary jungle where we will learn valuable information of plants in the area; and we will be able to see the entire flora surrounding us. We will discover trees such as the Capirona, Capinuri, Chonta, Cercropias, Mohena and the biggest tree The Lupuna or Ceiba Pethandra. Also, you will appreciate the many different types of bird species and local wildlife in this area like Macaws, Parrots, Wild Ducks, Horned Screamer, Amazon Kingfisher etc. Returning to the lodge we will enjoy our dinner, and will receive a brief explanation of the night excursion by canoe. Finally, we will be in the river alert to see the Caymans and other nocturnal species. Return from the night excursion for a calm night in the peaceful lodge.
Day 02.- Dolphins in the Marañon – Nocturnal Walk
River and its vegetation at Pacaya SamiriaThis day we will go for an early walk in the jungle to see Monkeys and Squirrels in their natural habitat and return for breakfast. After breakfast we will go on a motorboat excursion to the Marañon and Ucayali Rivers where the Amazon River is born and observe the gray and pink sweet water Dolphins. We will go to the black water area of the Yarapa River, Tributary River to the Amazon, for more viewing of the legendary Amazon pink Dolphin. Afterwards, lunch will be provided aboard the boat. Next we will visit the village of Castilla to learn about the daily life of these indigenous people. From there, we will visit the farmer’s plantations. The villagers are Indians “mestizos” and originate from the Jivaro tribes who are dedicated to make handicrafts that Red Macawscould be bought or traded with objects that tourists bring with them. Next, we will observe the sunset on the Amazon River and return to the lodge for dinner. The guide will tell us when dinner will be prepared and what we will be eating. During the night, we will take a walk in the jungle to learn about the night insects like the Batrachians and other nocturnal species. Overnight at lodge.
Day 03.- Canoe Excursion – Fishing tour – Iquitos out
Very early, we will take a canoe ride to the lagoon of Anaconda Cocha to observe many various species of birds in their natural habitat. After this wonderful experience, we will return to Catching a Caymanthe lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, we can spend time fishing for Piranha or other species of fishes like Catfish, Tucanare, Bujurquis, Acarahuiasu, and Sardines in the lagoon closer to the lodge. The fish will be caught with typical fishing poles used by the native people. At an appropriate time we will enjoy lunch and then we will transfer to Nauta and then to the city of Iquitos by car and finally transferred to the airport.
