Kuelap FortressThe Amazonas department is also called "The Kingdom of Chachapoyas" since in this region of Peru, the development Chachapoyas civillization took place from the year 800 to 1300 AD. It is a zone constituted by forest regions and mountain range, predominating the zone of forest with 72,93% of the total extension. The mountain range includes 27.07% of the total of the surface of the region, in addition it is characterized by a wonderful diversity: like folklore, lifestyle, archaeology and cultural development, it all makes it a very enigmatic and mysterious destiny that invites the traveller to explore.

- Lima - Chiclayo - Chachapoyas: 1225 km (aprox. 21 hours in car)
- Lima - Trujillo - Cajamarca - Chachapoyas: 1199km (aprox. 26 hours in car)
- Tarapoto - Moyobamba - Chachapoyas: 361 km (aprox. 7 u 8 hours in car)
Air
- There are no regular flights from Lima to Chachapoyas, but it is possible to hire charter flights from Chiclayo. No regular flights are offered from the cities of Moyobamba and Rioja.

Gocta WaterfallsBreakfast. At a scheduled time, we will leave to the town of Cocachimba, from here we will walk around 3 hrs until arriving to the Gocta Waterfall that is considered the third highest one all over the world. We will have a Box Lunch. Return to the city of Chachapoyas. Overnight.
Day 03.- Amazonas Out
Breakfast. At an appropriate time transfer to the Station to return to the origin city.

Its burial form is considered unique in the world because it appears in small groups of 4 to 8 statues that laterally go united and reclined from the backs to the rock of the cave, some of these sarcophagi have a painting in the superior part. Overnight.
Day 03.- Gocta Waterfall
Breakfast. At a scheduled time, we will leave to the town of Cocachimba, from where we will walk around 3 hrs until arriving to the Gocta Waterfall that is considered the third highest one all over the world. We will have a Box Lunch. Return to the city of Chachapoyas. Overnight.

We will enjoy a city tour in Leymebamba. Return to the hotel. Overnight.

We will visit the archaeological remains of Willcahuain and Antaoco; both from the Wari – Tiwanacu period. Once here, we will be able to appreciate the funeral mausoleums that were built in different levels, as well as the magnificent scenery that encircles it. Then we will make a visit to the Regional Museum of Ancash, where we will be able to appreciate the collection of sculptures and ceramics of one of the ancient civilizations of Peru. We will have the afternoon for free activities. Overnight in Huaraz.
Day 02.- Callejón de Huaylas – Llanganuco Lake
Llanganuco LakeBreakfast. We will begin our tour through by the Santa River Valley, between the Black and White mountain range, where picturesque towns and beautiful cities as Carhuaz are settled; also we will visit Yungay that is located at 22 Kilometers from Carhuaz. Later, the town of the Invalids and Caraz and the most important snow-covered of the White Mountain Range. Finally we will ascent to the Llanganuco Lake, which is located in a narrow glacial valley and is flanked by the snow-covered Huascarán and Huandoy, and it shows a spectacular panorama with its water blue turquoise with various fauna and flora that surrounds it. Return to Huaraz. Overnight.

Also the Portal of the Falcónidas with their columns and cornices and the Cabezas Clavas that surround the Great Temple. Return to Huaraz. Overnight.

Desayuno. Early in the morning we will visit the Pachacoto Area, in Pachacoto we will appreciate the Puya Raimondi, a special plant that grows only in the highlands and the has a changed-coloration, it is an exotic plant that only has flowers once in a lifetime. Return to Huaraz. Overnight.
Day 05.- Ancash out

Ancash in the mountain range: 4 days, 3 nights

Day 01.- Ancash in – City Tour
WilcahuainReception in the station and transfer to the hotel. After a brief rest, we will start our City Tour. We will visit the archaeological remains of Willcahuain and Antaoco; both from the Wari – Tiwanacu period. Once here, we will be able to appreciate the funeral mausoleums that were built in different levels, as well as the magnificent scenery that encircles it. Then we will make a visit to the Regional Museum of Ancash, where we will be able to appreciate the collection of sculptures and ceramics of one of the ancient civilizations of Peru. We will have the afternoon for free activities. Overnight in Huaraz.
Day 02.- Callejón de Huaylas – Llanganuco Lake
Llanganuco LakeBreakfast. We will begin our tour through by the Santa River Valley, between the Black and White mountain range, where picturesque towns and beautiful cities as Carhuaz are settled; also we will visit Yungay that is located at 22 Kilometers from Carhuaz. Later, the town of the Invalids and Caraz and the most important snow-covered of the White Mountain Range. Finally we will ascent to the Llanganuco Lake, which is located in a narrow glacial valley and is flanked by the snow-covered Huascarán and Huandoy, and it shows a spectacular panorama with its water blue turquoise with various fauna and flora that surrounds it. Return to Huaraz. Overnight.
Day 03.- Pachacoto
Desayuno. Early in the morning we will visit the Pachacoto Area, in Pachacoto we will appreciate the Puya Raimondi, a special plant that grows only in the highlands and the has a changed-coloration, it is an exotic plant that only has flowers once in a lifetime. Return to Huaraz. Overnight.
Day 04.- Ancash Out
Breakfast. At an appropriate hour transfer to the station to return to origin city.

Churup Lake
Day 02.- Laguna Churup (Full Day)
Breakfast. Very early we will start our day heading to Pitec, where the walk to the Lake Churup is initiated. This lake has crystalline blue water that allow us to see the bottom of the lake, and is one of the most beautiful lakes whitin the Huascarán National Park. It has a panoramic view of the snow-covered mountains located in the five fractions that surround the city of Huaraz. Snack. Return to Huaraz. Overnight.
Day 03.- Chavín de Huántar
Chavín de HuántarBreakfast. This day we will visit the one of the ceremonials and representative center of the High Peruvian culture, with more than 3,000 years of antiquity, considered one of the first high Peruvian civilizations, Chavín de Huántar. Here we will appreciate its monumental architecture, with sunken plazas and subterranean galleries, the fine art emphasizing the Lanzon of Chavín, an impressive stone knife-like sculpture, the Estelas, with anthrop zoomorphic representations. Also the Portal of the Falcónidas with their columns and cornices and the Cabezas Clavas that surround the Great Temple. Return to Huaraz. Overnight.

They are a great necropolis of Pre-Inca origin characterized for its crypts dug in volcanic rocks and a drawbridge. Free afternoon for personal activities. Overnight.

Likewise, we will visit the Therapeutic Center of the Baths of the Inca, thermal and medicinal baths, where the temperature at the surfaces are up to 82°C, the wells of the Inca, the perolitos, where Atahualpa encounter The Spaniards for the first time. (15th of November 1532). Finally, we will return to Cajamarca. Overnight.
Day 03.- Combayo Windows – Otuzco Windows
Ventanillas de OtuzcoBreakfast. We will start the tour at 9.00hrs, and we will pass Shultin, mill Luichupucro, Inlet of the Hydroelectric, which are rural communities that still conserve customs and own traditions until our days. We will arrive at the Windows of Combayo and we will appreciate this mysterious Pre-Inca archaeological center. On our way back we will visit the Windows of Otuzco, The Garden of the hortensias, The Farm of the three mills, The Farm Los Alpes, places where we will be able to find the better “Peruvian Paso” horses and the best cattle in production of drinking milk. Callacpuma CavesBreakfast. The tour will start at 8.00am. We will visit the Caverns of Callacpuma, where we will find rock art dated around 7,000 years a.c, then we will go to Llacanora (and we will enjoy a small walk to visit its waterfalls), we will also know The lake of Sulluscocha, and there we will find the geological formations called Sapitos. In Namora, we will be able to appreciate the fish farming, and the nursery of trout, likewise, The Ex-Farm La Perla, and we will have some time in The Lake San Nicolas. We will be able to go fishing. This lake is 1800m. long and 500m. wide. Finally we will visit the Collor Archaeological site belonging to the Cajamarca civilization with Buildings and hundreds of ceramic remains. Overnight in Cajamarca.

Approximately at 9.00am we will pass by the Forest Park of the National University of Cajamarca, in order to reach the zone of Cumbemayo where will be able to observe: The forest of stones with capricious and mysterious forms like Fraylones and hundred of geoforms; continuing the visit we will see Petroglyphs, ceremonial altars, The Stone of Sacrifice and the aqueduct of Cumbemayo that has 3.000 years of existence, which is a great hydraulic engineering work, unique in Pre of Columbus America, that consists of a channel with points that derive the water of the slope of the Pacific, toward the Atlantic, It was made in volcanic rock.

Right after our breakfast we will begging our Excursion to the Craft workshops Porcón Farmof Huambo where the inhabitants carry out works of stone in marmolina and granite, likewise we will know Porcón Alto, once here we could appreciate a forest of pines, farms of guinea pigs and rabbits, stables of stockbreeding, manufactures of dairy products, the park of the monkeys, the park of the deer, the park of the vicunas and other native animals of the place (a small zoo), in addition we will be able to observe the traditional call of the cows by its own name for the milk. Return to Cajamarca. Overnight.

The ceremony starts at 10.00pm and is directed by the shaman, who sits down next to the assistants in a circular form. Then we will take you to our operative offices in Iquitos where we will give you an orientation of our services in accord with your program. Free time in Iquitos. Lunch in the Hotel restaurant. In the afternoon we will go to Quistococha Lagoon to observe the different species flooded woodlands birds. This activity takes place around the Lagoon and takes approximately 2 hours.
The range of Amazonian Parrotlet, formerly known only in southeast Peru , was greatly extended in the north by sightings here. The palm swamps and surrounding areas have species like the Lesser Swallow-tailed Swift, Point–tailed Palmcreeper, Sulphury Flycatcher, Olivaceus Woodcreeper, Lettered Aracari, Chestnut-eared Aracari, White-lored Euphonia, Red-eyed Vireo, Spotted Tody-Flycatcher. In the palm trees is possible to find birds such as Short-tailed Swifts breeding or roosting.

Heron in Pacaya SamiriaWake up time is 4:15 am - Breakfast. We will head for the reserve using the Iquitos-Nauta Highway till Kilometer 25.
5:30 am – We start our expedition with a bird expert from the Allpahuayo-Mishana Reserve, He will explain the differences between the several environments. From at least 100 meters from the highway you can already observe approximately 15 - 20 species of birds, among them nocturnal birds and some other nocturnal animals such as amphibians and monkeys.
We will then use a jungle path to an observation post where we will be able to observe birds species such as the Ancient Antwren, Gray-legged Tinamou (only between December and March months) ,The Mishana Tyrannulet, Northern Chestnut-tailed antbird, Pompadour Cotinga, Allpahuayo Antbird and the new Iquitos gnatcacher recently registered as Polioptila clementsi, Brown-banded Puffbird (Notharchus ordii), Citron-belied Attila (Attila citriniventris), Safron-crested Tyran-Manakin (Neopelma chrysocephalum), Yellow-throated Flycatcher (Conopias parava). We will return to the highway and then to the comfortable Zungarococha Lodge to rest and have lunch.
In the afternoon : Free Time for activities including: swimming pool, fishing in the Zungarococha lake (seasonal - high river level), or simply rest in hammocks. The forest clearing at the Lodge provides some good birding activities, particularly if trees are fruiting. The best place is the lake , the flooded trees at the lake edge have species like the Orange-crowned Manakin, the rare Amazonian Scrub-Flycatcher and Black-crested Antshrike. As we keep looking for birds we can find the Pied Puffbird perched on exposed branches. The palm swamps in the harbor area is possible to find the Point-tailed Palmcreeper and Sulphury Flycatcher . Spend the night in the Lodge.
Day 03.- Nauta – Pacaya Samiria National Reserve
Hummingbird4:15 am (approximately) - Wake up time for Breakfast. We will take the bus from Zungarococha to the Allpahuayo – Mishana Reserve. We will continue looking for new species including the Iquitos Gnatcather and others white-sand specialists such as the Pearly Antshrike, White –plumed Antbird, White-browed Purpletuft
Return to the highway and to Iquitos then we will take you to the river port of Bellavista, on the Nanay River, where we will take a speed boat that will take us to the Heliconia Lodge. During this boat ride we will be able to observe our first Large-billed and Yellow-billed Terns and in some occasions Yellow-headed Vulture. Once we arrive to the lodge we will have Lunch.
In the afternoon we will start a jungle hike into the Yanamono Streams near the Lodge looking for varzea specialists like the Pale-legged Hornero, Warbling antbird, Violaceus trogon, White-eared Jacamar, Buff-throated Woodcreeper. For terra firme forest , you will find some manakin species , including Golden-headed Manakin, which is replaced on the south side of the Amazon by Red-headed Manakin, Blue-headed Manakin, Reddish Hermit, Golden-collared Toucanet, Fasciated Antshrike and Short-billed Antwren. In these excursions into the lands of the Yanamono Community , we can see the huge Ceiba tree. Return to the lodge and rest. Dinner. Free time.
Day 04.- Yanamono Rainforest
Yanayacu riverEarly birdwatching. We will start very early going by boat to one of the several streams (if the water level allows us ). We will be looking for birds such as the Wattled Jacana, , White-eared Jacamar, Black Capped Donacobius, Red Capped Cardinald , Amazon Kingfisher, Green Kingfisher, Ringed Kingfisher , Black-Collared Hawk, Amazonian Antshrike, Amazonian-streaked Antwrent, Black Caracara, Plumbeus Antbird , Great Egret, Greater Ani, Squirrel Cuco and Oriole Blackbird.
After breakfast , we will take a walk in the Yanamono Streams area in terra firme forest where we hopefully observe , Black Fronted Nunbird, Blue Gray Tanager, Roadside Hawk, Yellow Haded Caracara, Chachalaca, White-throated Toucan , Yellow Rumped Cacique and others.
In the afternoon, a speed boat will take us to the Napo River . This river is more suited for viewing river edge species than the wide Amazon River. Species like Black –necked Red Cotinga , Orange –eyed Flycatcher, Swallow-wing, Cestnut-crowned Becard can be seen. Then we will visit to one of the oxbow lakes to see Hoatzins Plum-throated Cotinga, among other species. Also looking for birds like Black-collared Hawk, Great Black-Hawk, Capped Heron and three species of Kingfishers (American Pygmy Kingfisher, Green and Rufous Kingfisher, Green Kingfisher) , during this time we can also have the opportunity to look out for the Pink Amazon River Dolphin (Inia Geoffrensis), they can be very shy. Return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 05.- Yanamono Rainforest/ Iquitos

In the Pink Dolphinsjourney we will be able to observe pink and gray water birds, taricayas, primates, parrots and macaws. When we finally get to the base camp, we will accommodate ourselves in tents and enjoy a cold lunch. One the nicest thing of this day is the nocturnal excursion where we will observe Caymans and listen the sounds of the forest. Dinner and Overnight in tents.
Day 04.- Pacaya Samiria National Reserve – Lodge
Breakfast. This day we will enjoy a morning visit to a nearby lagoon. Once there, we will be able to observe Flower in Pacaya Samiriathe primary forest, its birds, flora and invertebrate animals. After that, we will visit a native community to share some of the typical activities of the local people. Lunch. This will be our last camping day. In the afternoon we start returning to the lodge. This day, we will enjoy a relaxing fishing tour, where we will attempt to catch the cat fish, sardines and the voracious piranhas, along our day we will observe the Flower in Pacaya Samiriabiggest water lilies on earth, the Victoria Regia, Lunch. After breakfast we will go on a motorboat excursion to the Marañon and Ucayali Rivers where the Amazon River is born and observe the gray and pink sweet water Dolphins. We will go to the black water area of the Yarapa River, Tributary River to the Amazon, for more viewing of the legendary Amazon pink Dolphin. Afterwards, lunch will be provided aboard the boat. Next we will visit the village of Castilla to learn about the daily life of these indigenous people. From there, we will visit the farmer’s plantations. The villagers are Indians “mestizos” and originate from the Jivaro tribes who are dedicated to make handicrafts that Red Macawscould be bought or traded with objects that tourists bring with them. Next, we will observe the sunset on the Amazon River and return to the lodge for dinner. The guide will tell us when dinner will be prepared and what we will be eating. Day 03.- Canoe Excursion – Fishing tour – Iquitos out
Very early, we will take a canoe ride to the lagoon of Anaconda Cocha to observe many various species of birds in their natural habitat. After this wonderful experience, we will return to Catching a Caymanthe lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, we can spend time fishing for Piranha or other species of fishes like Catfish, Tucanare, Bujurquis, Acarahuiasu, and Sardines in the lagoon closer to the lodge. The fish will be caught with typical fishing poles used by the native people. At an appropriate time we will enjoy lunch and then we will transfer to Nauta and then to the city of Iquitos by car and finally transferred to the airport.

It is said that the settlers of this town are unwilling to be mixed with the settlers of the surroundings, because in this way they maintain the purity of their race, language and traditions. Lamas is located 25 Kilometers far from the City of Tarapoto, and once there where we will be able to appreciate his typical houses without windows (to avoid the income of bad spirits), to enjoy some typical dishes, to buy the handcrafts made by themselves, or just simply, to sit down and contemplate the beautiful clothes the inhabitants wear that light up original handmade decorations. Lamas has a museum, where the visitor will receive a mild chat about the customs and history of this singular place. Return to Tarapoto. Overnight in Tarapoto

Day 01.- Native Town of Lamas
Native Town of LamasReception and welcome, transfer to the hotel.. At a time indicated by the guide, we will start traveling towards the town of Lamas, a small town where, according to the legends, its inhabitants descend directly from the Chancas. It is said that the settlers of this town are unwilling to be mixed with the settlers of the surroundings, because in this way they maintain the purity of their race, language and traditions. Lamas is located 25 Kilometers far from the City of Tarapoto, and once there where we will be able to appreciate his typical houses without windows (to avoid the income of bad spirits), to enjoy some typical dishes, to buy the handcrafts made by themselves, or just simply, to sit down and contemplate the beautiful clothes the inhabitants wear that light up original handmade decorations. Lamas has a museum, where the visitor will receive a mild chat about the customs and history of this singular place. Return to Tarapoto. Overnight in Tarapoto.
Day 02.- Blue Lagoon
Blue LagoonBreakfast. Today we will discover the Blue Lagoon, which is situated in the district of the Sucre; and it is one of those spots whose beauty impresses the visitors since the first view. The history tells that this Lagoon was created to the eruption of a volcano, thousands of years ago. The people that desire will be able to practice aquatic sports and fishing (Optional). Return to Tarapoto. Overnight.
Day 03.- Huacamaillo Waterfalls
Breakfast. We will start our adventure going to the Huacamaillo waterfalls. It is a singular fall of very crystalline water, which reflects among the Huacamaillo Waterfallsdense vegetation. We will walk near a small fraction of the river Cumbaza, in which higher part the waterfall is found. We will have some time to enjoy this spectacular contact with the nature and the jungle. Return to the Hotel. Overnight in Tarapoto.
Day 04.- Tarapoto Out
Breakfast. At an appropriate time, transfer to the station to return to the city of origin.

Day 01.- Tarapoto in – Ahuashiyacu Waterfall
Ahuashiyacu WaterfallWelcome and reception. Transfer to the hotel. After arriving there, we will have some time to rest and regain energies. After that, we will visit the famous Ahuashiyacu Waterfall (The water that laughs) that is located at only 15 km. from the City of Tarapoto, at a little distance from the highway that conducts to Yurimaguas. It is surrounded by an impressive passage of dense vegetation and there is only terrestrial access. Return to Tarapoto. Overnight.
